School trips to Strasbourg offer the unique opportunity to immerse your students in Franco-German culture!
Most of our groups who visit Strasbourg choose to do so on a Christmas markets school trip but, whatever your reason for visiting, we’ll tailor-make your school trip to Strasbourg to ensure that it suits your curriculum and specific learning objectives.
In the historic region of Alsace, on France’s eastern border with Germany, Strasbourg has long been a cultural bridge between the two countries.
Throughout history, there have been many violent struggles to gain control over the region, most recently during WW2.
Strasbourg really is a city straight out of a fairy tale, with medieval half-timbered crooked houses reflected in the waters of the canals.
The best place to see this is Petite France, the city’s historic centre. Most of the city’s main sights are on the Grand Île, and so are all within easy walking distance of one another.
It’s this mix of the two cultures here that has created a wonderfully unique atmosphere that really comes alive in the run-up to Christmas when the beautiful Christmas markets take over the city and most of our school groups choose to visit.
A festive Christmas markets school trip to Strasbourg offers your students the opportunity to explore this fantastic market and use their French in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
Make sure you swing by the Alsace Christmas food market on the Place du Marché-aux-Poissons, where you’ll be able to try some authentic Alsatian delicacies, such as bredele, flammkuchen or tarte flambée.
And if you do decide to visit Strasbourg at Christmas, you mustn’t miss the chance to visit a local gingerbread factory, where your students will learn all about gingerbread and its role in European culture. Plus, they’ll love the opportunity to take part in a tasting session at the end!
Strasbourg is also home to several important EU institutions, including the Council of Europe, the European Court of Human Rights and the European Parliament.
Britain may have left the European Union but this is still an excellent opportunity for your students to learn more about the role and function of the EU.
Tell us your learning objectives, curriculum and budget and we’ll do the rest.
