Ski racing and training
The ISSC is open to all students aged 8-18 years and is recognised by the National Schools Snowsports Association.
Your students don’t necessarily need to have raced before, but they do need to be comfortable on red runs and eager to learn.
Event Management
The ISSC is managed by Halsbury Travel, a leading school tour operator. With nearly 40 years’ experience of providing school ski trips, Halsbury will make sure you’re supported throughout the process, so that you can enjoy this unique experience as much as your young racers. Fully-accredited, Halsbury Travel is a member of ABTA and holds an ATOL.
Race Management
The race days are managed by Impulse, our race specialist partner, alongside the local race office who regularly host FIS World Cup events. The race management team will ensure that all safety elements are compliant with the highest standards.
Our Chief of Race, Phil Brown is the owner of Impulse Racing and Programme Director for the National Schools Snowsports Association.
In terms of his experience and credentials, Phil has been coaching for nearly 30 years, acting as head coach for numerous UK clubs, including attending the World Alpine Championships as a national team head coach. He has also coached the British children’s ski team and taken skiers to the European Youth Winter Olympics and the World Student Winter Games.
Competition
Giant slalom and slalom races with team and individual trophies up for grabs. Age categories will be under 10s, under 12s, under 14s, under 16s and under 19s. If conditions allow, we’ll also run parallel team slalom.
Ski Instructors
An experienced team of instructors provide the tuition prior to the competition. These instructors are able to place the training within the context of the event and provide fun days of skiing with a race focus.
Ski Programme
The ski programme is tailor made and designed to cater for a wide range of abilities. Instructors provide encouraging and inspirational training sessions to challenge advanced skiers and welcome those new to the sport. A fun and inclusive skiing environment is guaranteed.
The programme will include specialist performance development and race coaching sessions. The instructors use various learning tools, including games and exercises, to make lessons exciting and entertaining.

Bring Your Beginners
And inspire them with the festival atmosphere of the ISSC. They'll be placed in groups with other beginners and will enjoy ski lessons throughout the week with our highly-qualified, experienced ski instructors.
And when they're not skiing, they'll be able to join in with the other fun activities and soak up the atmosphere of a competitive ski racing event.
Resort Staff
The ISSC team are there to support you from your initial enquiry, until you return home. We have representatives and support staff in-resort to ensure a smooth few days for both pupils and teachers.
