Why visit Madrid?

Spain’s cultural heart

If you’re looking to provide your students with a good overview of the Spanish culture, while giving them plenty of opportunities to practise their Spanish, then Madrid is hard to beat. The capital sits right at the centre of Spain and is one of the best places to experience the diversity of this incredible country.

Visit the Royal Palace of Madrid to find out more about the importance of the Spanish royal family in the country’s history and culture. Take in the atmosphere and see the influence of the Habsburgs at the Plaza Mayor. And head to Buen Retiro Park to see where Madrileños go to relax!

Whatever you choose to do on your school trip to Madrid, your students will return home with a greater appreciation of the Spanish culture and a passion for all things Spanish!

One of Europe’s artiest cities

Madrid is home to some of the best art museums in the world! The Golden Triangle of Art on the Paseo del Prado is made up of the Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen-Bornemisza - all three of which are well worth a visit and hold some of the greatest treasures of European art.

The wealth of the Spanish royal family throughout the centuries is reflected in the collection of the Prado Museum. The Reina Sofía National Art Museum is the country’s primary museum for 20th-century art and is home to Picasso’s masterpiece, Guernica. The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum is where you’ll find pretty much everything else.

Incredible food

Your school trip to Madrid will give your students a taste of all that Spain has to offer! That’s because Madrid is also one of Europe’s most important culinary capitals.

Madrid is one of the best places in Spain to experience tapas, as you’ll be able to sample delicacies from all over the country, like Barcelona and Seville. In fact, a trip to Madrid is really a gastronomic discovery of all of Spain!
