Alicante's bursting with history, culture and incredible food, as well as its own spectacular beaches.
On Spain's southwestern Costa Blanca, Alicante is a bit of a hidden gem (in our humble opinion).
While tourists do pile into the city's airport, they tend to disperse along the coast, to the many resort towns that have sprung up to make the most of the spectacular beaches. So, Alicante itself has managed to maintain more of an authentic 'Spanish' feel.
There's loads to explore here, from the imposing Castillo de Santa Barbara (which keeps a watchful eye over this historically important port city) to the charmingly colourful Barrio de la Santa Cruz that cascades down the hill from the castle.
Make like the locals and head to the city's famous Explanada de Espana for the evening paseo. This beautiful waterfront promenade is very instagrammable - it's palm-lined and paved with marble tiles that resemble the waves of the Mediterranean.

Picture this - turquoise waters lapping golden beaches against a backdrop of dramatic mountains. Perched atop one of those mountains, a historic castillo surveys the scene below, as people stroll along the palm-lined esplanade, explore the cobbled streets of the Old Town or stock up on ingredients at the iconic art deco market hall.
Sounds idyllic, right?
This is Alicante. This is where your students will fall in love with the Spanish language, culture and way of life. Everything you could want in a Spanish destination is right here, waiting for your group to discover it.
With flights from almost every UK airport (from Aberdeen to Bournemouth), Alicante is one of the most accessible destinations in Spain. That means you're going to have plenty of options for flights to get you there.
And once you're there, it's a lovely little city that's really easy to navigate with a group, making it really easy for a school trip (and we're all about making your life easier).
Whether it’s ordering a helado from one of the many ice cream shops along the Explanada, or shopping for ingredients to make a traditional paella at the Mercado Central, Alicante offers endless opportunities to get your students talking.
Watch them swell with confidence as they successfully communicate in Spanish with native speakers, experiencing the language IRL.
It won’t just make them more enthusiastic about Spanish, it’ll show them how speaking the language opens the door to a much richer cultural experience of a country. Pure magic.
