A residential school trip to the Lake District offers your students the unforgettable opportunity to try a number of adventure sports, building their resilience, improving their self-confidence and developing their teamwork and communication skills!

The Lake District is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in North West England. It’s famous for its spectacular scenery, which boasts lakes, forests and mountains, which are known locally as fells. Its beauty has inspired a number of famous authors and poets, including Beatrix Potter, John Ruskin and William Wordsworth and the other Lake Poets.

On your residential school trip to the Lake District, your group will stay at the YMCA Lakeside, an accommodation and activity centre purpose-built to cater for school and youth groups. Under the excellent guidance of their fully-qualified instructors, your students will have the opportunity to try a number of adventure sports and activities, including canoeing, kayaking, raft building, sailing, ghyll scrambling, high ropes and archery.

This will be an unforgettable school trip for your students. The opportunity to enjoy new experiences will give their confidence a huge boost. And they’ll develop their resilience as they learn new skills. Many of the activities will also require them to develop their teamwork and communication skills.

YMCA Lakeside

YMCA Lakeside sits within 400 acres of private woodland on the shores of Lake Windermere and is one of the largest outdoor activity centres in Europe. There is plenty of excellent accommodation here for school groups. The new Stoller Campus boasts 250 beds, and there are another 200 beds across the other accommodations here. As well as accommodation, the YMCA Lakeside also offers nearly 50 land and water-based activities, including kayaking, fell walking, archery and caving.

Launching your trip to parents and students

After you’ve booked

Once you’ve booked, your dedicated Itinerary Coordinator will start work on the finer details. They’ll make sure your itinerary makes the most of your time and they’ll take on most of the admin tasks for your trip (freeing you up to do what you do best – teach).

Support while you’re away
