Why visit Frankfurt?

Explore ‘Mainhattan’

Frankfurt, in central Germany, was one of the most important cities in the Holy Roman Empire and remains one of Europe’s most important financial centres, with many global and European companies choosing to base their headquarters in the city.

Frankfurt is sometimes referred to by Germans as Mainhattan, due to its location on the Main river and its high-rise buildings that resemble the skyline of Manhattan.

It’s also sometimes referred to as Bankfurt, as it’s home to the Deutsche Bundesbank, the European Central Bank, the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and several other commercial banks.

Bring maths and business studies to life

Home to the German stock exchange and the financial capital of the Eurozone, Frankfurt is an exciting destination for maths and business studies school trips.

For maths students, this is a great opportunity to see the importance of maths in the ‘real world’, as well as some of the career opportunities that maths can open up for them.

And business studies groups will be able to visit a variety of different businesses and learn more about how economies work.

There are some fantastic opportunities in Frankfurt for both business studies students and maths school trips. You could visit the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, where your students will be able to view the trading floor. They can even enjoy a lecture on the workings of the trading floor and digital Xetra trading. They’ll also learn more about the structure and organisation of the Deutsche Börse Group.

You can also visit the European Central Bank, where your students will learn about monetary policy, financial stability, banking supervision and payment systems. They’ll also gain a deeper understanding of the Euro and its role in Europe. And the Money Museum of the Deutschebank is also worth a visit for groups interested in the role of banks and banking supervision.

Maths school trips to Frankfurt can also include a visit to Mathematikum, an interactive maths museum which highlights how fun and interesting maths is!
