Political History School Trip to Berlin

Halsbury Sticker

On a school trip to Berlin, your students can explore the long and complex political history of Germany, from monarchy to the Weimar Republic, the Third Reich, the division of Germany during the Cold War and, eventually, stable democracy!

Berlin’s turbulent history has left the city with a wealth of historic sites and museums focused on political history and, for this reason, it really is unrivalled as a destination for politics-focused school trips.

It’s also an important city within the European Union, making it a great choice for groups studying the EU too. The Europa Experience is a 360° cinema, which allows your students to witness a plenary session of the European Parliament. They can then learn more about the role of MEPs and Commissioners.

Small group? The good news is that Berlin is a fantastic destination for cross-curricular school trips, so why not team up with another department? History, German, art and design and technology are just some of the subjects for which a school trip to Berlin works well.

Let's chat!

Sachsenhausen is a must for a Berlin visit, as well as the traditional sites – TV Tower, Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, Jewish Memorial, etc. For a leisurely afternoon the Berlin Zoo is also worth considering and we also tried out the lesser known Otto Weidz Museum which our students thoroughly enjoyed. Take full advantage of the U/S Bahn during the visit, particularly if travelling with KS4 students – we packed so much into the visit as a direct result. I’ll definitely be back for more as 4 days doesn’t even scratch the surface with so many fascinating sites easily accessible.
