What was your main aim or objective for this trip?

We wanted to offer a stimulating, varied and enriching cultural experience to our pupils, which included visits to places that linked in to some of their academic studies, most notably, the Vietnam War which crops up in both iGCSE and A Level courses.

Why did you choose this destination?

We had travelled to Vietnam back in 2016 with Halsbury and had such a fantastic experience, we wanted post-pandemic to offer it to a new range of students. Vietnam is such a fascinating, different, yet safe destination for school groups. Although not cheap given its long haul nature, it also offers excellent value for money.

A cyclo tour around Hanoi – not for the fainthearted but we all managed it safely.

And a competitive cookery activity where pupils made their own lunch.

Why did you choose these visits and activities?

Partly based on past experience but also because of their variety and broad appeal.

With a group of 38 students aged from Y10-12 it was important to achieve a good balance of activities and trips.

Again, too many to list, but probably the positive engagement and sheer enjoyment of the pupils. That, and the karaoke night experience!

Why did you choose Halsbury for this trip?

As a department, we actually organise a lot of trips ourselves, but for a more long-distance venture it was essential to use a company you knew you could trust to deliver a top notch service. That, and a previously very positive experience with Halsbury.

How would you describe the experience of working with Halsbury on this trip?

Excellent, communication was very prompt and efficient. I felt all questions and queries were handled extremely well. For example, we were asked by our school to provide a risk assessment for the cookery activity and one was produced very quickly by Halsbury.

Planning a big and ambitious school trip is never stress-free, but we always felt in very capable hands. Also, for trips such as this one, Halsbury use a local agency for the local programme and they were also top notch, with excellent guides and restaurant selections.

Would you recommend Halsbury to your friends and colleagues?

Yes! Both this and our previous Vietnam trip were highly successful. Essentially, you don’t want to take unnecessary risks or work with ‘unknown entities’ when organising school trips abroad. Halsbury’s level of customer service, attention to detail and ‘product quality’ were second to none.
