Aqaba/Jordan

What was your main aim/objective for this trip?
  • To enhance students reading, listening and speaking skills in Arabic.
  • To familiarise students with Arabian culture and lifestyle.
  • To capture other skills such as managing money, respecting rules and regulations of other countries and other responsibilities on the trip.
Why did you choose this destination?

Jordan is an Arabic-speaking country with lots of historical landmarks and variety of people with different lifestyles.

Why did you choose these visits and activities?

The Arabic GCSE exam does highlight some historical Arabian landmarks, such as Petra and Wadi Rum. By visiting these places, the students will have a better understanding of the texts regarding these places.

What will be your lasting memories of this trip?

The places we visited, the friendly people we met during the trip, the lovely food we tried in Jordan, the fresh coffee, the sound of the prayers and the professional organisation by the Halsbury Travel team and the local agent in Jordan.

Why did you choose Halsbury for this trip?

Halsbury has thankfully catered this trip to us according to our requirements with an affordable cost and Covid guarantees.

Were there any guarantees that Halsbury were offering that made it easier for you to get senior leadership and/or parents on board?

Yes, there were, and this was the main reason we planned for this trip during Covid, knowing that in the worst-case scenario Halsbury would refund money or delay travelling to a better time.

How did it feel to be on a school trip again?

Brilliant.

How would you describe the experience of working with Halsbury on this trip?

Excellent experience.

Thank you for making this trip happen - my students, my colleague and I had an absolutely amazing time which, I am sure, will be in my students’ memories for a very long time.

Thank you all for all your help and support.

Thank you to Zoe, our Travel Adviser, for initially creating this trip as it was tailor made for us.

Thank you to Silvia, our Itinerary Coordinator, for your support all along and for being patient with me and my regular enquiries.

Thank you to Carole, our local agent in Jordan, for excellent organisation from day one until our departure from Aqaba and providing us with an excellent tour guide and coach driver who felt like family to us.

I would very much like to repeat this experience sometime in the future.

Would you recommend Halsbury to your friends and colleagues?

Definitely because, from my experience, Halsbury is a very supportive and professional organisation.

Do you have any tips for other teachers planning their first trips since Covid?

Plan your trip with Halsbury with confidence.
