The Spanish capital boasts a vibrant atmosphere as well as a rich musical history. Music here has been dominated by the Zarzuela and, whilst opera thrived in Barcelona, Madrid developed an orchestral tradition. Madrid has some fantastic historical venues for our groups to perform in. Choirs can perform as part of Mass in the famous cathedrals of Almudena and Iglesia Catedral del Redentor, one of the oldest Anglican churches in Madrid.

Almudena Cathedral

The magnificent Almudena Cathedral of Madrid islocated in the heart of the city by the Royal Palace. The royal wedding of Prince Felipe (now King Felipe VI)took place there in 2004. Choirs with a sacred repertoire are invited to sing at Mass.

Basilica de San Miguel

Theoldest church in Madrid, located in the old part of the city, is justa short walk from Plaza Major. It is a very popular venue for choirs and has excellent acoustics.

Accommodation

Hotel Mediodia

Hotel Mediodia Madrid is ideally located in the centre of Madrid and offers 173 rooms. Groups will usually be accommodated in multi-bedded rooms and group leaders in twins. All rooms are en-suite and include a hairdryer, direct dial telephone, TV and central heating. A continental breakfast will be provided by the hotel and evening meals will be taken in a local restaurant.

Hostel Sil & Serranos

The 2* Sil y Serranos hostel is located a few minutes away from the universities and museums, such as the Municipal Museum of Madrid. It is an ideal option for enjoying the cultural area of the capital. The hostel is well-served by public transport, such as the underground and bus, making it possible to visit any area of the city in a relatively short time.Students are normally accommodated in triple or quadruple rooms, all of them having their own bathroom with hair dryer, air-conditioning and television. Staff are normally accommodated in twin rooms.

This welcoming hostel is well-located in the centre of Madrid. The hostel has 80 well-presented rooms. Some rooms have their own bathroom/shower with a basin, telephone, central heating, TV and air-conditioning. Some of the rooms include a balcony. A basic continental breakfast is provided by the hostel.

Visit Madrid’s royal palace, the official residence of King Felipe VI, although he does not actually live here.

Plaza Mayor

Madrid's pleasingly symmetrical central plaza is one of the earliest parts of the city to be planned as part of the Habsburg’s new capital city.

Parque del Buen Retiro

Madrid's most famous central park is always popular with Madrileños, particularly on summer afternoons when its shady groves and cool fountains are a wonderful retreat from the heat of the city.
