FAQs

How much does an average school ski trip cost?

This season, the average cost of a school ski trip is between £1,000 to £1,500 per person. Of course, the price can vary depending on where you go, how you get there, the accommodation, and the number of lessons for your group.

Dates can also impact the cost, with February half-term usually the most expensive time for a skiing holiday.

Don't worry though, our experts will help tailor a package that suits your requirements and budget.

What should we bring?

Teachers and pupils should bring the following essentials: ski gear, thermal clothing, waterproof jacket and trousers, gloves, neck buff, woolly hat, sunglasses/goggles, non-ski clothes, walking boots, personal items (passport, medication, sunscreen), and a water bottle. See our packing checklist for more details.

How many days should we spend skiing?

It's totally up to you. Most schools opt for a 9-day trip, where they spend 6 days skiing for 4 hours each day.

However, we recommend an 8-day trip with 5 days of skiing for 5 hours per day. You will save one day's worth of accommodation and lift pass costs, and you'll have an extra hour of lessons overall. It's a no-brainer.

Are your ski trips accompanied by a rep?

All of our ski trips for schools include the services of a Halsbury rep. Your rep will usually speak the local lingo, so they can sort out any issues you have with meals, activities, equipment or ski passes.

Do you offer trip insurance?

We do, but it's an optional extra so it's up to you whether you add it to your booking. To find out more about it, head to our insurance page.

If you decide not to add this insurance to your booking, please make sure you have alternative insurance in place that provides suitable cover.

Can I go on an inspection visit ahead of the trip?

Absolutely. In fact, we usually offer two inspection visits each year, usually around Christmas and Easter. This is a great opportunity to test-drive the Halsbury experience before your trip – and meet like-minded, ski-mad colleagues to swap tips.

Still have questions?

Our ski specialists have first-hand knowledge of the resorts we offer and are available to answer all your questions!

Firstly, I want to say a massive thank you for all of your help. The trip was amazing, for staff and pupils alike. I cannot say just how happy we are with Halsbury. The booking, organisation and running of the trip was easy and well structured. Lisa Brown was excellent with the admin and communicated consistently throughout, making the organisation simple. Our reps, Jon Doel, Tricia Cooke and Khursana Tairova, were fantastic. They took the time to get to know our staff and pupils, providing the best experience for all. We cannot emphasise enough just how great our experience was.
