What do our Group Leaders think about Salzburg?
It was a wonderful trip. The choice of concert venues was perfect for our children who loved performing to their audiences who were very appreciative and kind. The sightseeing was all very well organised. The tour guide for the Sound of Music tour was brilliant with the children. Delphine Lock was brilliant to liaise with and was such a help to me in setting up the trip.St. Catherine’s British School

What’s so special about Salzburg?
Salzburg has an incredible musical heritage and was the birthplace of one of the greatest composers of all time – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. One of the most popular activities on our school music tours to Salzburg is, unsurprisingly, a visit to Mozart’s Birthplace.
The rooms in which the Mozart family lived are now a museum and include exhibits such as Mozart’s childhood violin, his concert violin, clavichord and pianoforte, as well as portraits and correspondence.
Salzburg is also famous for its connection to The Sound of Music. The 1965 film is one of the classic musicals and our groups often choose to include a ‘Sound of Music’ themed tour in their itinerary.
And, apart from all that, Salzburg offers some truly special performance venues!
Where can we perform in Salzburg?
For fans of The Sound of Music, you’re going to want to include the opportunity to perform at the Mirabell Gardens, where several scenes from the film were shot, including part of the song ‘Do-Re-Mi’.
Or you could perform at the Basilika St. Michael, which is where Maria married Captain Von Trapp!
There are plenty of other venue options too, from the imposing Castle Kaprun to the charming bandstand at St. Gilgen.
And, if you happen to be in Salzburg during July, you could take part in the Mid Europe Festival, where your ensemble will have the chance to perform in front of a truly international music-loving audience!
