School Geography Trip to Swiss Alps

If you’re looking for a geography school trip that will help your students better understand plate tectonics, glaciers, ecosystems and biodiversity or river landscapes, then the Swiss Alps could be the perfect destination for you!

Your school geography trip to the Swiss Alps will see your students explore a glacier, learn more about river processes and see some of the most famous peaks in the Alps, including the Matterhorn. For GCSE students there is the opportunity to complete a field activity related to rivers or glaciers, while A Level students will find the Swiss Alps a good fit for their case studies.

The Swiss Alps, although making up just 14% of the total area of the mountain range, is home to 48 of the 82 ‘four-thousanders’ (peaks above 4,000m). This, plus the fact that Switzerland is the most alpine country in Europe (65% of its territory is in the Alps) makes it an incredible destination for young geographers.
