Holocaust Memorial Day is a day where we remember the devastation caused by the Holocaust. We've created a few posters for you to put around your classroom, to remind your students of the human cost.
This year’s theme is the ‘Power of Words’ and is designed to encourage people to think about the powerful effect that words can have.
The Nazis used words, in the form of propaganda, to incite anti-Semitism in the German population, allowing them to spread their ideology and commit their crimes.
But words can also be used in protest against regimes, or to offer kindness in times of oppression, and its important to remember the power of these words too.
And words tell stories, reminding us that these things really did happen and that the victims and perpetrators were all humans, just like us. They remind us that if we don’t learn lessons from history, we are just one step away from history repeating itself.
